Alfred Kubin's Terrifying Artworks at the Albertina
The Albertina's Chief Curator of the Graphic Art Collection takes us on a journey through 30 of Alfred Kubin's nightmarish drawings. From a one-eyed severed head to a monstrous devouring ape, Kubin’s dark world unfolds, each drawing revealing the many disturbing corners of his imagination and offering a deeper look into his mind.

Dr. Elisabeth Dutz, born in Vienna, studied art history and law at the University of Vienna. Chief Curator Graphic Art Collection | Curator International Symbolism at the Albertina. Dissertation on the sculptor Othmar Schimkowitz and architectural sculpture in Vienna around 1900. Curator at the Albertina for international Symbolism, Vienna around 1900 as well as Expressionism and the interwar period in Austria and author on 19th and 20th century Austrian art, architecture and history.
