Georgia O'Keeffe, Leaves of a Plant (1942), which has a $8m to $12m estimate and a guarantee, is due to be sold at Sotheby's Modern Evening Auction in New York on May 13. Oil on canvas, 101.6 x 76.2cm. The work has been traded twice in the past. O'Keeffe painted the canvas three years after a trip to Hawai’i, when she was commissioned by the Hawaiian Pineapple Company, now the Dole Food Company.
