About MadC

Nicknamed ‘The Mad One’ for her enthusiastic approach to graffiti art, Claudia Walde works under the name MadC as a graffiti artist and painter based in Germany. Internationally recognized for her vibrant and arresting public works on a monumental scale, MadC’s nearly 30-year career boasts murals across the world. Though never abandoning her street art practice, MadC has produced many of her new compositions on canvas, taking the influence of graffiti into the studio and away from its long-established place in the streets.

About Color Rhythms

Known for creating monumental murals on streets across the world, in Color Rhythms MadC brings graffiti’s raw energy into the studio. In her 59 paintings, vibrant and electrifying paint sprays, drips and scrapes across the canvases. Within the same dynamic composition, mesmerising waterfalls of colour meet transparent geometric forms, and fierce, calligraphic swipes of the brush.

In each Color Rhythms work, MadC employs a gestural, fast-moving abstract language that captures the vibrancy of urban spaces. MadC develops her compositions by working in layers, using tools such as spray cans, brushes and spatulas to create varying effects in paint and build tactile surfaces. This immediacy invites viewers to engage with both the process of its making and the finished piece.

In 2022, MadC and HENI released Color Rhythms, a series of 1,000 unique NFTs. The digitally constructed works were made by applying machine learning to her characteristically expressive canvas paintings.
