The singer, songwriter, and guitarist St. Vincent is one of the headline acts signed up by Sarah Jones, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new head of live art.

St. Vincent will be accompanied by keyboardist Rachel Eckroth at the event in September, which leads the first Met Live Arts season organized by Jones.

Swedish star Lykke Li will perform her newly released album The Afterparty in the fall. Pow Wow singer Joe Rainey and musician Black Belt Eagle Scout will share a double bill to celebrate Native American and Indigenous Heritage Month in November.

Animation fans should head to MoMA New York, which opens It’s Alive!, a celebration of 100 years of animation art, tomorrow, August 1.

The exhibition, which shows the city's central role in the history of animation, highlights a story often overshadowed by the West Coast studios of Walt Disney and Hanna-Barbera, among others.

The show ranges from images of Felix the Cat, first drawn by Otto Messmer in 1919, to an animated MTV flag being planted on the moon by astronauts courtesy of Buzzco Productions.

The price with fees achieved by Olga de Amaral’s 1985 work Tierra y oro 5, which is made of wool, horsehair, and gold leaf. Proceeds from the sale of the Colombian artist’s work at Rago this week go toward the sculpture garden LongHouse Reserve, the Hamptons.

Amid a spate of break-ins, museum directors have another thing to worry about going missing: café chairs.

Thieves have stolen all of the designer chairs from Bonnefanten Museum’s café Ipanema in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

Café manager Freek Joosten said that security camera footage showed the perpetrators making several trips, carrying stacks of chairs at around 4 a.m. on Monday, July 27, Dutch News reports.

As well as the chairs designed by the company Fermob Luxembourg, the thieves also took a bin. The outdoor furniture remains missing, as Dutch police continue their investigation.

Aspen is drawing in the A-list crowd this week but elsewhere in the Rockies there’s another show going on.

Diehl Gallery in Jackson Hole (altitude: 6,237 feet, or 1,901 meters) opened a show of Susan Brearey’s paintings, aptly titled In the Wilderness, yesterday. The exhibition, the artist’s debut at the gallery, features her pared-down paintings built through layering and revision inspired by the great outdoors.

Back in the high-altitude resort town in Colorado, the Aspen Art Museum's second AIR (Artists in Residence) Festival is in full swing with Matthew Barney in town having unveiled a new sculpture earlier this week. It revisits TACTICAL parallax, the athletic performance piece he staged at the festival last year.

Reported sales at the third edition of Aspen Art Fair, which closes on Saturday at Hotel Jerome, included a work by Sanford Biggers that went for $135,000 on Boesky Gallery’s booth.
