You can be a part of James Turrell's latest work by singing a lullaby down the phone.
The opening of his new installation at the Aarhus Art Museum (ARoS), As Seen Below, will be accompanied by a three-part soundtrack created by Marie Koldkjaer Hojlun featuring music by Caterina Barbieri and Philip Glass and a choral work including childhood lullabies.
Hojlund, a professor of sound studies at Aarhus University, said: "We would love people to share the lullabies they were sung to sleep with. For me, these melodies and words sit deep in the body’s memory. They hold a sense of comfort, but also of vulnerability and surrender to the dark and the unknown."
The museum has set up a phone line people can call to sing or speak their lullaby and Turrell has already contributed his own.
The work will be performed at sunset on June 19, 20, and 21 when the installation opens.
