Joseph Stalin’s reputation is being rehabilitated sculpture by sculpture in Putin's Russia.
The latest monument to the man who oversaw the deaths of millions has been unveiled in Moscow's metro where a huge wall sculpture in the Taganskaya station shows him surrounded by adoring citizens.
The work, with the Soviet-style title Gratitude of the People to the Leader-Commander, is dedicated to victory in World War II according to a statement from the transportation system.
It is a replica of a monument installed in the 1950s and reportedly “lost” after Stalin’s death during a revamp of the station.
Earlier this month, members of Russia’s Communist Party erected a bust of the dictator in the Moscow-controlled Ukrainian city of Melitopol.
