The event, marking the moment in 1839 when local man Robert Cornelius used a homemade camera to take his self-portrait, is one of 52 parties in the city this year marking its contribution to 250 years of American history.
2 - The winner of the 2025 Claridge's Royal Academy Schools Art Prize, Rosa Klerkx, is holding the solo exhibition she won as part of the prize at Perrotin gallery in London next month.
She was given the prize, which also includes an award of $40,000, by an artist jury of Chantal Joffe, Roger Hiorns and Claudette Johnson.
3 - Wolf Burchard has been appointed chief curator at the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
He has been part of the department since 2023 and is currently in charge of the reinstallation of the British Galleries’ historic interiors.
4 - A new 6,500-square-foot gallery has opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Lift Studio/Space/Gallery was set up by Nouf bint Abdulaziz AlSaud, a princess in the country's ruling family, in the city's Jax district which is increasingly home to studios and galleries.
