A love of the Massachusetts seaport of Gloucester obviously runs in the Rothko family.

Mark Rothko liked it so much he stayed there twice producing several paintings of the city and his son, Christopher, was so impressed he donated one of them to its museum.

The untitled 1934 watercolor of a Gloucester wharf was already on display in the Cape Ann Museum for a show of work by Rothko and his New York contemporaries, Adolph Gottlieb and Milton Avery, inspired by the area.

Announcing it would join its permanent collection, Rothko Jr said: "My gift reflects my genuine love for this remarkable town and, I am certain, echoes my father’s feelings from his two extended stays—stays that sparked a vivid response from his brush. Now this watercolor is back home where it will be treasured and where it may evoke an extra smile of recognition."

The number of exhibits returned to Native American communities by the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, earlier this week. They include objects belonging to the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes including an amulet and beaded bags.

Nobody does merchandise marketing like the gift shop at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul.

Its latest triumph is a $27 keycap keyring modeled on some ancient royal seals that have become among its most popular items - selling out in around an hour.

Demand for the items, which can be fitted onto computer keyboards or used as a clicker-style keyring, was so intense customers were limited to one each and a third restock is in progress.

It comes after other triumphs including a magpie and tiger motif badge, based on an image seen in the Netflix hit KPop Demon Hunters, which sold around 90,000 units and was so popular it crashed the shop's website.

She was given the prize, which also includes an award of $40,000, by an artist jury of Chantal Joffe, Roger Hiorns and Claudette Johnson.

3 - Wolf Burchard has been appointed chief curator at the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has been part of the department since 2023 and is currently in charge of the reinstallation of the British Galleries’ historic interiors.

4 - A new 6,500-square-foot gallery has opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Lift Studio/Space/Gallery was set up by Nouf bint Abdulaziz AlSaud, a princess in the country's ruling family, in the city's Jax district which is increasingly home to studios and galleries.
