Four-time Grammy nominee singer-songwriter Jewel is taking "a cautionary tale" in the form of a sound and art installation to Venice in time for this year's Biennale.
The performer, who has sold more than 30 million albums around the world, will show her work at the city's Salone Verde in association with Walmart heiress Alice Walton's Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
The installation, called Matriclysm: An Archeology of Connections Lost, runs from May 7 to November 22 and includes painting, sculpture, tapestry and sound works.
Among them are hand-blown glass orbs, family portraits and a monumental sculpture of a pregnant kneeling woman made in collaboration with Congolese artist Patrick Bongoy.
Jewel said the works were about "memory", adding: "If something of a cautionary tale, my hope is that the show reminds us what it feels like to be in closer harmony, inviting us to unearth ways to reconnect us to ourselves, each other, and the world around us."
