German sculptor Henrike Naumann's final work will go on show at this year's Venice Biennale after she raced to complete it before her death on Saturday.

Her death at the age of 41 was announced by Germany's Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa) which said she died "after a short, serious illness".

The statement said she regarded her work with fellow artist Sing Tieu and curator Kathleen Reinhardt for Venice as "one of the most important milestones in her artistic career".

They added: "It was important to her to conceptually complete and finalize the work so that it could be realized in Venice in accordance with Naumann's artistic vision."

Protestors are holding a mock funeral today for a canceled art show.

Organizers urged attendees to wear "funeral attire" at the protest at the University of North Texas in Denton, near Dallas, after it shut down an exhibition by Victor Quinonez a week after it opened.

The university has not commented so far, but Quinonez told the New York Times he feared it was because the show made "a huge statement on all the current social issues that are happening among Indigenous and immigrant people".

Among the works he made for it is an ice cream cart which refers to US immigration officials as the "Immigration and Cruelty Enforcement" agency.

He said he hoped to find a new home for the show which was meant to run for three months.

Love was in the air in Paris when the Museum of Romantic Life reopened on Valentine's Day after almost a year-and-a-half of renovation work.

The building was home for many years to Dutch painter Ary Scheffer and it has been restored to how it was when he welcomed guests including Eugene Delacroix.

Its reopening exhibition focuses on the work of Scheffer's contemporary and friend Paul Huet whose landscapes have seen him dubbed a "pre-impressionist".

Other works in the show include paintings by Theodore Rousseau, Georges Michel, and Eugene Boudin.

1 - It never rains but it pours for Louvre boss Laurence des Cars after flooding damaged a Charles Meynier ceiling painting called The Triumph of French Painting. Thursday's flood, which caused the temporary closure of the room, came two days after two members of her staff were arrested on suspicion of operating a ticket fraud operation at the Paris museum.

2 - A 52-year-old man is due in court today after he was arrested following a break-in at the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology near Brisbane, Australia. Four ancient Egyptian artifacts were recovered by police but the museum said some objects, including a 5,000-year-old ring, had been damaged beyond repair during the theft.

3 - Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey were given a guided tour of the Art Institute of Chicago after paying a visit to see Georges Seurat's painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Curator Gloria Groom posted a picture with the pair on instagram in front of the painting which inspired Stephen Sondheim's musical Sunday in the Park with George. They will both appear in a new production of the show at London's Barbican arts center next year.
