1 - An opera about Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera's relationship opens tonight at New York's Metropolitan Opera.
El Ultimo Sueño de Frida y Diego is sung entirely in Spanish and depicts Kahlo leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead to reunite with her husband and fellow painter.
2 - Holograms, prints and glasswork by James Turrell will go on show at a major exhibition at Gagosian's Hong Kong gallery.
The show, which opens on May 28, will include models made for his Roden Crater observatory in Arizona which remains a work in progress having been under construction since 1977.
3 - More than 100 staff at Seattle Art Museum have announced a plan to unionize, citing "unsustainable wages, subpar health benefits, and siloed, top-down decision-making" at the institution in Washington state.
It is the latest in a series of pro-union moves at major museums with staff at New York's Whitney Museum and Philadelphia's art museum organizing in recent years.
4 - Asad Raza has been commissioned to create the first installation for Tate Liverpool's new Art Hall when the gallery in northwest England reopens next year after construction work.
Raza's previous work included installing a tennis-style court in a deconsecrated Milan church and diverting a river through Frankfurt's Portikus gallery.
