The ceasefire between the White House and the Smithsonian ended on July 4 after a government report
accused it of failing to celebrate the country's heritage.
The 162-page report by the White House’s Domestic Policy Council said the institution, led by Lonnie Bunch, had not "met its obligations to the American people".
It singled out Washington DC's National Museum of American History saying it had moved from education to "an extreme political activism that seeks to transform our country" and criticized its lack of an exhibition about America's founding fathers.
A Smithsonian spokeswoman said: "For more than 180 years, the Smithsonian has served the American public with nonpartisan and independent scholarship, and we remain committed to doing so."
It comes after President Trump publicly criticized National Portrait Gallery director Kim Sajet who subsequently resigned and the White House threatened the Smithsonian with budget cuts.
