A sound installation of dog-shaped whistles, an 860-square-foot floor canvas and more tabbouleh than you can eat all feature in the program for Sydney's Toni Morrison-inspired Biennale.

More details about the event, called Rememory after a concept coined by the US writer in her novel Beloved, have been released by artistic director Hoor Al Qasimi ahead of its opening next month.

It includes a sound installation by Cannupa Hanska Luger using ceramic whistles in the shape of the native Australian Dingo and Mounira Al Solh's creation of "a large vat of tabbouleh to feed attendees, exploring ideas of gathering, food rituals, musicality, rhythm, and tabbouleh as a site of resistance".

The country's indigenous artists take center stage with a showing of the giant Ngurrara Canvas II which was used in a 1996 legal case as evidence of the Aboriginal group's successful claim to their land.

It is the final time it will be seen away from their lands in Australia's Western Desert.

The event runs from March 14 to June 14.

New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is being sued by the family of a Jewish art dealer persecuted by the Nazis demanding the return of a Camille Pissarro landscape.

The heirs of Max Julius Braunthal say he was forced to sell the painting under duress after the German invasion of France, but the museum said the sale was "legitimate".

The New York Times reported the family has gone to court after spending five years trying to reclaim the work which was given to the museum more than 20 years ago by its former chairman Douglas Dillon after it had been bought and sold several times.

The family say under French law all art sales made under the Nazis by Jews and others in extreme distress are null and void, but the newspaper reports the museum will not be bound by a French court ruling unless the heirs successfully secure a subsequent U.S. court decision to enforce it.

German-born Braunthal survived the war only to die in 1946 of cancer.

Engineer-turned-artist Zein Majali has won this year's $27,321 visual art award from the UK's Arts Foundation .

A former artist-in-residence at London's Somerset House, her work spans audiovisual performance, sculpture and technology and is influenced by her roots in the Middle East and the effect of the internet on "geopolitics and community".

Frieze London's artistic director Eva Langret, who was a member of the prize jury, said her work was "complex and assured".

She said: "The kind of work she creates requires significant support to exist at all, so as a jury, we believe the opportunity afforded by the generous Arts Foundation Fellowship will be transformative."

Majali was one of five recipients of the awards at a ceremony yesterday in central London which also recognized excellence in film, literature, music and theatre.

Previous winners include painter and writer Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.

Greek street artist KLE's huge mural of opera singer Maria Callas has been named the best in the world by the Street Art Cities website.

The mural, which covers the entire side of an apartment building in the Greek city of Kalamata, was praised for "bringing a little poetry, color and imagination into the heart of the city".

Callas was born in New York to Greek immigrant parents but moved to Athens while still a child where she began her musical career going on to become one of the greatest opera singers of the 20th century.

The mural painter, real name Kleomenis Kostopoulos, is not the first artist to be inspired by her life and career. Earlier this year, Marina Abramovic released a limited edition print of herself holding a torn photograph of the singer with their profiles meeting in the middle.

The Serbian performance artist has also performed her own operatic tribute, 7 Deaths of Maria Callas, where she recreates some of the star's most famous roles.

Madrid was named the best city in the world for street art in the same awards.

1 - New York's Queens Museum is holding its 2026 gala on May 18 just weeks before current director Sally Tallant takes over at London's Hayward Gallery. Last year's gala was attended by 300 people including Mickalene Thomas who was named an honoree and who spoke at the event.

2 - President Trump revealed he wants the planned triumphal arch in Washington DC to be 250ft high. That would make it the highest triumphal arch in the world but first he will have to amend an act of congress from 1910 that states buildings in the city cannot exceed 130ft.

3 - Proposals for new security buildings in the grounds of the British Museum in London have been criticized as "too flashy". The comments from the Victorian Society pressure group were made ahead of a local government hearing later this month to decide on the plans which would also see the museum's front lawn converted into a botanical exhibit.

4 - Sofia Crespo, Wael Shawky and Carsten Holler are among the speakers set to appear at the 2026 Art for Tomorrow conference in Doha. The event, which runs from April 12 to 15, coincides with the launch of the city's design biennale.
