A series of 27 "transformative" works by Australian painter Sidney Nolan go on show tomorrow for the first time in 60 years.
The paintings from his Ned Kelly series will be presented, as originally exhibited in 1948 rather than in the order they were painted, at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney.
The vast majority - 26 - are on loan from Canberra's National Gallery of Australia to join the solitary one already in the collection at Sydney.
Nolan's paintings of the famous outlaw, complete with his unique handmade armoured suit have become an icon of Australian art.
Curator Denise Mimmocchi said the works in the show, which runs to February 7, were "among the most inventive in Australian art and contributed to a transformative period in modern Australian culture".
