The French city of Aix-en-Provence is so proud of its status as the hometown of Paul Cézanne it has trademarked his name.

Its tourist board registered the rights to the painter's name and to the phrase 'Cézanne chez lui' which translates as 'Cézanne at his home', before launching its summer celebration of his life and work.

The city has mounted an exhibition, featuring 130 works by the artist who died in 1906, and restored his family home and studio and opened them to the public as it looks to attract artistically-minded tourists to its Cézanne 2025 season.

Among the works included is a drawing from the collection of Jasper Johns and a a painting from the Musee Picasso in Paris.

A similar celebration in 2006 on the centenary of his death is estimated to have increased tourist revenue by $76 million.

The former home of murdered Pakistani painter Ismail Gulgee has been turned into a museum with more than 170 works on show.

Gulgee, who was known for his high society portraits and more abstract work influenced by traditional Arabic calligraphy, was found dead at home with his wife and a member of his staff in 2007. Two other members of his staff were eventually jailed for the murders.

The Karachi museum, which has been opened by his artist son Amin, also includes exhibits such as his brushes and painting table.

The number of grants, worth $3.4 million in total, given by the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation to American arts organizations to become more environmentally sustainable.

Spanish artist Mateo Maté spent almost $118,000 buying camouflage military uniforms off eBay for his latest show.

He used the material in his exhibition, Timeless Landscapes at Barcelona's Seltz Gallery, to recreate landscape scenes with the fabric standing in for the original paint.

Among the works he has recreated are 19th-century rural scenes by Albert Bierstadt and Johan Thomas Lundbye.

Mate, who lives and works in Madrid, said he was inspired by the invasion of Ukraine - telling Spanish newspaper El Mundo: "We had gone many years without seeing dead soldiers in Europe, and I said to myself 'we've returned to the same old landscape. The landscape is once again a scene of war.'"

The show runs to September 12.

Thousands of photographs and film clips about pioneering video artist Nam June Paik have been given to Korea's National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Its Art Research Center was given images and footage from photographer Lee Eun-joo and artist Mark Patsfall who worked as a technician and designer with Paik from 1984 to 2002.

South Korean Paik, who died in 2006 aged 73, coined the phrase 'electronic super highway' in the 1970s while discussing the future of communications. He initially trained as a classical musician and became friends with experimental composer John Cage.

1 - Billionaire art collector Ken Griffin paid $13.7 million for President Abraham Lincoln’s handwritten copy of the 13th Amendment - which abolished slavery throughout the United States when it was written into the Constitution in 1865. Griffin, whose art collection includes major works by Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol, bought the document at auction at Sotheby's in New York.

Entrepreneur Angus Murray told city planners his proposal would transform a series of deep level tunnels beneath High Holborn in central London using "projectors and mirrors" to create an "immersive experience" similar to Tokyo's award-winning teamLab.
