Zhang Daqian Work Sells for $729,400 But Delivers a 13% Negative Return

Zhang Daqian, Verdant Mountains in Splashed Colour (1977), sold for $729,400 (HKD5.71m), more than one and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in Hong Kong on April 29.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $113,800, realizing a 13% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2017 for $843,200 at Christie's.

Ink and colour on paper, 50.8 x 72.0cm. The work has been traded once in the past.
