Zhang Daqian, Sailing Home (1976), sold for $518,700 (HKD4.06m), more than twice the low estimate at Christie's in Hong Kong on April 29.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $235,100, equivalent to an annualized return of 2%. It last sold at auction in 2005 for $283,600 at Sotheby's.
Ink and colour on paper, 26.5 x 62.0cm. The work has not been traded before.
