Yoshishige Saito, Work 1 (1960) sold for $454,700 (JPY72.45m), more than three times the low estimate at SBI Art Auction Co. in Tokyo on March 14. The Oil on drilled plywood work has not been traded before.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $75,700, a 19% rise.
