William Eggleston's Auction Record Jumps 40%

William Eggleston, Untitled, c. 1971-1974 (2012) sold for $1.44m, more than twice the low estimate at Christie's in New York on November 21. The pigment print, flush-mounted on board work has been traded once in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $419,000, a 40% rise.

The previous record was set by Los Alamos (1965), which sold for $1.02m at Christie's on October 13, 2008.
