Willem Claesz Heda, Still life with a silver-gilt-mounted nautilus cup, a beaker on its side, a peeled lemon on a plate, oyster shells, a blue and white porcelain bowl, a silver salt cellar and other objects on a stone ledge, in an arched niche (1655), sold for $215,900, more than seven times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on February 4.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $214,200, equivalent to an annualized return of 7%. It last sold at auction in 1956 for $1,679 at Sotheby's.
