The West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK) has announced an ambitious programme of major exhibitions, a cultural summit, and performing arts events set to launch during Hong Kong Art Week 2026. This extensive slate, running from March 2026 through August 2027, will be presented across its flagship institutions: M+, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the Xiqu Centre, and the WestK Performing Arts Centre.

M+ will host several significant exhibitions focusing on contemporary art and digital media. Featured artists include Lee Bul, Shahzia Sikander, and a collaborative presentation involving Ryuichi Sakamoto, Shiro Takatani, and Carsten Nicolai. The museum's programming also highlights key figures such as Nam June Paik, Zao Wou-Ki, and Robert Rauschenberg, exploring mediums ranging from installations and digital art to printmaking, abstract art, sculpture, and photography.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) will deepen its focus on Chinese art with a major exhibition dedicated to Giuseppe Castiglione. This presentation will examine his contributions through ink and colour on silk, painting, and the specific genre of horse painting, alongside related works that draw connections to ancient Egyptian art and silk art.

In parallel with these visual arts presentations, WestK will convene the Hong Kong International Cultural Summit. This gathering is expected to bring together representatives from leading cultural institutions globally, including the Leeum Museum of Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum & Foundation, Southbank Centre, and The Museum of Modern Art. Additionally, the district's performing arts venues, including the Xiqu Centre and WestK Performing Arts Centre, are scheduled to present a varied programme of music, theatre, and dance events throughout the announced period.
