Wang Xiyao, On the way to Penglai Island no. 2 (2023) sold for $114,700 (GBP88,900), more than three times the low estimate at Phillips in London on March 7. The oilstick and charcoal on canvas work has been traded once in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $41,300, a 56% rise.
