Vu Cao Dam, Conversation d'élégantes au jardin (1939) sold for $3.69m (HKD28.96m), more than three and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in Hong Kong on September 28. The ink and gouache on silk work has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $2.65m, a 250% rise.
