Vincent van Gogh Work Sells for $62.71m to Deliver a 4% Annualized Return

Vincent van Gogh, Piles de romans parisiens et roses dans une verre (Romans parisiens) (1887) sold for $62.71m, more than one and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on November 20.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $51.64m, equivalent to an annualized return of 4%. It last sold at auction in 1988 for $11.07m at Christie's.

Oil on canvas, 73.3 x 92.1cm. The work has been traded 11 times in the past.
