Vincent van Gogh, La Moisson en Provence (1888), sold for $29.43m, more than the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 19.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $19.12m, equivalent to an annualized return of 4%. It last sold at auction in 2003 for $10.31m at Sotheby's.
Watercolor, gouache, charcoal, reed and quill pens and ink on paper laid down on board, 48.7 x 61.2cm. The work has been traded 14 times in the past.
