Vincent van Gogh, Head of a Peasant Woman, Left Profile (1885) sold for $572,000 (GBP419,100), more than the low estimate at Sotheby's in London on July 3.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $150,500, realizing a 20% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2012 for $722,500 at Christie's.

Chalk on paper, 34.3 x 21.0cm. The work has been traded 11 times in the past.
