V&A Announces 'Rising Voices: Contemporary Art from Asia, Australia and the Pacific'

The V&A South Kensington has announced a landmark exhibition, 'Rising Voices: Contemporary Art from Asia, Australia and the Pacific,' scheduled to open in May 2026. The exhibition will showcase works by over 40 artists representing 25 countries across the Asia Pacific region.

This significant presentation aims to explore a range of critical themes pertinent to the region, including First Nations perspectives, ancestral knowledge, and the legacies of colonialism. Further topics addressed include conflict, spirituality, religion, and the rich tapestry of cultural diversity and artistic heritage.

The featured artworks will span a variety of mediums, from sculpture, photography, and painting to ceramics, weaving, body adornment, miniature painting, and works on paper. Notable artists included in the exhibition are Michael Parekōwhai, Pala Pothupitiye, Brenda Fajardo, Elisabet Kauage, Mathias Kauage, Naomi Hobson, Michael Cook, Lola Greeno, Khadim Ali, Saira Wasim, Pushpa Kumari, Nusra Latif Qureshi, Ah Xian, and Montien Boonma. The initiative involves collaborations with institutions such as the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA).
