Gagosian will present 'Dave: All My Relations,' an exhibition by Theaster Gates exploring the enduring legacy of enslaved ceramicist David Drake (Dave the Potter). The show, opening at the gallery’s Park & 75 location in New York, examines Drake’s profound impact on Gates’s artistic practice.
Known for his monumental stoneware vessels and inscribed poetry, Drake (c. 1801–1870s) is a pivotal figure in American ceramic history. Gates’s exhibition delves into this historical connection, positioning his own work in dialogue with Drake’s contributions to craft and art legacy through ceramics, pottery, and sculpture.
The exhibition is scheduled to open on March 26, 2026, at 821 Park Avenue in New York. 'Dave: All My Relations' will remain on view through May 2, 2026.
