3 min read  ·  10 Apr 2026

Opening on 15 April 2026, 'The Wallace Collection at War' will be on display at Hertford House, The Wallace Collection, running until 25 October 2026.

The exhibition focuses on two distinct aspects of the museum's wartime experience. It will detail the logistical efforts involved in safeguarding the collection's artworks through evacuation. Concurrently, the display will explore how the building itself was repurposed during the conflict to host exhibitions promoting Anglo-Soviet friendship, functioning as a site of cultural diplomacy.

This presentation offers an institutional account of how The Wallace Collection navigated the challenges of World War II, both in preserving its cultural assets and contributing to international relations through its physical premises.
