The Studio Museum in Harlem has announced its Spring/Summer 2026 season, commencing May 1 at its 144 West 125th Street location. The programming features new exhibitions, a reinstallation of its permanent collection, photography initiatives, and opportunities to engage with its artists-in-residence.
Among the forthcoming exhibitions are 'Fade', a site-specific installation by Kapwani Kiwanga, and a new exhibition titled 'BLEED'. Additionally, the Museum will present 'From Now: A Collection in Context', a reinstallation drawing from its permanent holdings.
The season also includes the ongoing 'Expanding the Walls: Making Connections Between Photography, History, and Community' program, which will feature works by James Van Der Zee alongside seventeen early-career artists of African and Afro-Latinx descent. The Museum's Artist-in-Residence Open Studios will showcase work by current residents Derriann Pharr, Simonette Quamina, and Taylor Simmons. Public programming will continue with 'Uptown Fridays!' throughout the season.
These programs collectively reinforce the Studio Museum's commitment to artists of African and Afro-Latinx descent, providing a platform for contemporary art and engagement within the Harlem community.
