The Metropolitan Museum of Art will present Designing the Gilded Age: Drawings from the Studios of Louis C. Tiffany, an exhibition dedicated to the design drawings from Louis C. Tiffany's studios. The exhibition is slated to run from October 22, 2026, through February 7, 2027, at The Met Fifth Avenue, located in Galleries 691–693.
This presentation will explore the detailed design process behind Tiffany's celebrated Gilded Age works, which include stained-glass windows, lamps, mosaics, and intricate interiors. The exhibition will highlight the contributions of key artists such as Frederick Wilson, Jacob Holzer, Agnes Northrop, Clara Driscoll, and Julia Munson, underscoring their role in the production of American decorative arts.
Max Hollein, The Met's Marina Kellen French Director and Chief Executive Officer, said: "The Met's unparalleled collection of design drawings from the studios of Louis C. Tiffany reveals how some of the most iconic works of American decorative art came to life." The exhibition aims to offer insight into the creative methodologies and collaborative environment that defined Tiffany Studios during this period.
