The Courtauld Gallery will present Hepworth in Colour, an exhibition exploring the artist's use of color in her work in wood, stone and on paper. Due to open on June 12, it will run until September 6.
The exhibition will explore her distinctive use of color across various materials, including wood, stone, bronze, and marble. Highlights include a group of carvings created in the 1940s, with vivid blues and yellows painted into hollows and onto curves. Many of these have never previously been shown together before.
Works by her former husband and fellow abstract artist Ben Nicholson will also be on show.
Significant loans will come from The Hepworth Wakefield, National Gallery of Victoria, National Galleries of Scotland and the Tate as well as from private collections around the world.
The exhibition’s title sponsor is Joseph Hage Aaronson & Bremen and its lead supporter is the Huo Family Foundation.
