Tetsuya Ishida, General Manager's Chair in an Abandoned Building (1996) sold for $973,300 (HKD7.62m), more than one and a half times the low estimate at Bonhams in Hong Kong on May 25.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $499,400, equivalent to an annualized return of 10%. It last sold at auction in 2017 for $473,900 at Christie's.
Acrylic on panel, 145.6 x 103.0cm. The work has been traded twice in the past.
