Tate Britain will host a major exhibition, 'Vanessa Bell & Duncan Grant: Inside Bloomsbury', from November 12, 2026, to April 11, 2027. The exhibition is set to provide an in-depth examination of the collaborative and individual practices of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, tracing their impact on art, literature, and societal discourse.
The exhibition will showcase the breadth of their artistic contributions, encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, prints, and drawings. It will also highlight their pioneering work in decorative arts, featuring ceramics, textiles, furniture, murals, book cover designs, and hand-painted plates. Their engagement with Post-Impressionism, Modernism, and abstract art will be explored through their portraits, landscapes, and still lifes.
Central to the Bloomsbury Group, Bell and Grant were instrumental in shaping the avant-garde movement in Britain. The exhibition will delve into their experimental approaches and their involvement with initiatives such as the Omega Workshops and the artistic community at Charleston, positioning their work within a broader context that includes influences from artists like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, as well as Post-Impressionist masters such as Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Paul Gauguin.
