Svend Hammershoi, Landscape, A bare Oak Tree (Landskab) (1902) sold for $77,400, more than two and a half times the low estimate at Phillips in New York on May 21. The oil on canvas work has been traded twice in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $49,800, a 175% rise.
