Sudhir Patwardhan, Five Figures (1976) sold for $756,000, more than three and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on March 19. The oil on canvas work has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $544,100, a 250% rise.
