Sotheby's to Host Week-Long 'Crafted' Event for London Craft Week

Sotheby's London will host 'Crafted,' a dedicated 'Craft Takeover' from 11 to 17 May, coinciding with London Craft Week. The event will span Sotheby's New Bond Street and Conduit Street galleries, offering a program of auctions, exhibitions, talks, and workshops focused on contemporary and traditional craft.

The program features several exhibitions, including presentations from specialist galleries such as Cavaliero Finn, O'Connell Gallery, Ruup & Form, Vessel Gallery, and Oxford Ceramics Gallery. Artists confirmed to exhibit or participate include Lucie Rie, Pippin Drysdale, Hitomi Hosono, Felicity Aylieff, Kate Malone, Ebony Russell, Freya Bramble Carter, Jacques Monneraud, and Michel Francois. The event encompasses mediums such as ceramics, weaving, embroidery, furniture, and leather sculpting.

'Crafted' will also incorporate collaborations and special projects. FiredUp4 and OnSide Youth Zones are involved, with Kate Malone MBE also participating. Other exhibiting artists and makers include Danielle Green, Lisa Trim, Nick Fenn, Christian Ovonlen, Clifton Wright, Mawuena Kattah, Jordan Moody, and Andre Williams, some through partnerships like Intoart.

Workshops and talks will provide further engagement with craft disciplines, with specific dates for various activities on 11 May, 13 May, and 16 May. Contributions from Barnaby Ash (Ash & Plumb), Andrew Montgomery, and Julia Fischel broaden the scope of the program, alongside features from Silver Lining Furniture, the Royal School of Needlework, and Elvis & Kresse.
