Sotheby's will present the collection of Robert and Adriana Mnuchin for auction this May, with the sale anticipated to achieve upwards of $130 million. The collection is notable for its concentration on significant modern and contemporary works, encompassing pivotal pieces across Abstract Expressionism and other key artistic movements.
Prior to the auction, a public exhibition, "Robert Mnuchin: Collector at Heart," will be on view from March 11-15 at Sotheby's Breuer building. This preview will feature a selection of paintings and sculptures from the collection, including works by artists such as Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Jeff Koons, and David Hammons.
The Mnuchin collection reflects a history of sustained connoisseurship, cultivated by Robert E. Mnuchin, a recognized figure in both finance and the art market, notably through his establishment of Mnuchin Gallery. The breadth of the collection underscores his engagement with seminal artistic practices and figures, many of whom are represented in major institutional collections globally.
