Sotheby's New York has announced its upcoming March Asian Art auctions, accompanied by a series of public exhibitions. These events will take place at the institution's global headquarters, the Breuer Building at 945 Madison Avenue, consolidating a significant offering of Asian art.
The sales will encompass a broad spectrum of Asian art, including Indian, Himalayan, and Chinese art. Offerings range from classical Chinese furniture, ancient jades, and ritual bronzes to ceramics, thangkas, and paintings. Modern and contemporary works from South Asia will also be featured, highlighting artists such as Zarina, Maqbool Fida Husain, K.C.S. Paniker, and Francis Newton Souza. The sales will include various mediums, notably painting, sculpture, bronzes, ceramics, jades, lacquer wares, huanghuali furniture, and works on paper, reflecting an "ink revival" and pieces from the Han dynasty.
Public exhibitions are scheduled from 14 - 24 March and 19 - 25 March. Live auctions will commence on 24, 25, and 26 March, with an accompanying online auction running from 16 - 31 March. An Asian Art Lecture Series is slated for Sunday, March 22, 2026, rounding out the extensive program.
