Sotheby's has announced "A Marvelous Journey: The Collection of Maurice Tempelsman," an upcoming auction in New York. The collection, assembled by the entrepreneur and philanthropist Maurice Tempelsman, encompasses a broad spectrum of collecting interests, including fine art, antiquities, and decorative arts.
The sale will highlight items across various categories and periods. Notable inclusions feature 18th-century Saxon goldsmithing, examples of Ptolemaic Egyptian jewelry, and works by artists such as Christian Gottlieb Stiehl, Robert Frederick Blum, and Montague Dawson.
