Sonsbeek 2026 Opens Thirteenth Edition in Arnhem

The thirteenth edition of Sonsbeek, titled ‘Ik hoef geen tuin, ik deel een park’ (I don’t need a backyard, I share a park), opened on July 2, 2026, in Arnhem, Netherlands. Running until October 11, this iteration of Europe’s oldest public art exhibition presents a program of installations, performances, talks, and events.

The exhibition features 18 international artists, including Jota Mombaça, Mounira Al Solh, Larry Achiampong, Korakrit Arunanondchai, Alvaro Barrington, Jumana Manna, and On Kawara, among others. Their contributions span diverse mediums, from installations, sculpture, and performance to dance, film, photography, and drawings.

Artworks are sited across numerous locations throughout Arnhem, extending beyond Park Sonsbeek to include Museum Arnhem, Museum Bronbeek, Omstand, POST, Rozet, Stadsvilla, Steile Tuin, the Police Station, Rembrandt Theatre, and the Town Hall. The thematic scope engages with public art, contemporary art, memory, the politics of public symbols, and resilience, often through site-specific interventions.
