Sir Thomas Lawrence Work Sells for $241,300 to Deliver a 3% Annualized Return

Sir Thomas Lawrence, Portrait of Felicity Jean Trotter (1774-1844), bust-length, wearing a black satin gown and a fur muff, sold for $241,300, more than the low estimate at Christie's in New York on February 4.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $180,700, equivalent to an annualized return of 3%. It last sold at auction in 1985 for $60,600 at Phillips.
