The Turner Prize 2026 shortlist is made up of Simeon Barclay, Kira Freije, Marguerite Humeau, and Tanoa Sasraku. Their new and existing works will be presented in an exhibition at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA), from September 26.
The selected artists work across diverse media, including performance, sculpture, photography, prints, drawings, digital artworks, installation, and film.
Barclay is nominated for his performance The Ruin, Freije for her solo show at the Hepworth Wakefield, and Humeau for her solo show at ARKEN in Copenhagen, which traveled to the Helsinki Art Museum. Saraku's solo show at the ICA in London caught the eye of the judges.
The exhibition at MIMA continues the prize's pattern of engaging with institutions beyond London.
The Turner Prize winner will be announced on December 10 at MIMA and awarded $33,000 while the runners-up each receive $13,000.
