Sam Francis Work Sells for $108,800 to Deliver a 4% Annualized Return

Sam Francis, Untitled (1977), sold for $108,800, more than three and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 15.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $93,800, equivalent to an annualized return of 4%. It last sold at auction in 1980 for $15,000 at Sotheby's.
