Salomon van Ruysdael, An estuary scene with smalschips on a broad reach before a gentle breeze sold for $638,300 (GBP482,600), more than the low estimate at Sotheby's in London on December 3.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $39,500, realizing a 5% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2012 for $677,800 at Sotheby's.
