The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium will present Collection Meets Spanish Artists: Spanish Abstract Art in the Spotlight, an exhibition dedicated to abstract works by Spanish artists from the 1950s to the 1970s. The exhibition is scheduled to run from April 1, 2026, through August 16, 2026.

This presentation highlights key figures associated with modern Spanish art, including Manolo Millares, Manuel Mompó, Manuel Rivera, and Antoni Tàpies. These artists were instrumental in the development of informal tendencies and abstract painting within the Spanish avant-garde during the mid-20th century.

The exhibition aims to provide an overview of the period's artistic landscape, focusing on the contributions of these painters to abstract art. By bringing together works from this specific era, the Royal Museums underscore a significant chapter in both Spanish and broader European modern and contemporary art.
