Robert Rauschenberg, Rigger (1961) sold for $8m, more than the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 15.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $4.28m, realizing a 34% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2017 for $12.28m at Sotheby's.

Oil, metal, rope, wood, fabric, plastic buttons, paper, graphite and sand on canvas, 259.1 x 152.4 x 26.7cm. The work has been traded 4 times in the past.
