Robert Hermann Sterl, Volga Boatmen (Undated) sold for $51,500 (EUR46,200), more than four and a half times the low estimate at Van Ham Kunstauktionen in Cologne on May 16. The Oil on canvas work has not been traded before.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $13,900, a 36% rise.
