Plans have been announced to build a second Rijksmuseum in the Dutch city of Eindhoven.
The Amsterdam-based institution, which is the national art and history museum of the Netherlands, hopes the new building will be open in six to eight years on a riverside site by the city's main station.
Rijksmuseum director Taco Dibbits said the new museum would help make its "collection even more accessible in the south of the country".
Detailed plans for the new building, which is expected to cover more than 3,500 square meters, will be developed next year.
The Rijksmuseum was founded in The Hague in 1798 and moved to Amsterdam in 1808. Its current building in the capital opened in 1885 and is home to work by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals among others.
