Rene Magritte, Tête (1960) sold for $1.24m (GBP914,400), more than three times the low estimate at Sotheby's in London on September 17.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $1.22m, equivalent to an annualized return of 11%. It last sold at auction in 1987 for $21,000 at Sotheby's.
