Rene Magritte Work Sells for $15.94m to Deliver a 9% Annualized Return

Rene Magritte, Les droits de l'homme (1947) sold for $15.94m, more than the low estimate at Christie's in New York on May 12.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $15.6m, equivalent to an annualized return of 9%. It last sold at auction in 1984 for $332,900 at Christie's.
